Shane Warne Cricketer News, Profile, Records, Stats

Shane Warne Profile Shane Warne is an Australian former international cricketer who captained the Australian national team in ODI. One of Wisden's five cricketers of the 20th century, Shane Warne remains the second-highest Test wicket-taker of all time with 708 from 145 Tests. And despite it being 11 years since his Test retirement and five since he finished playing, the star appeal remains undimmed. While that is largely due to his work in the media and appearances on shows like 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here' he insists that he is far from comfortable with the celebrity tag. "The real me is preferring to be on the couch with my kids, in tracksuit pants," he said. "The other stuff is a bit of fun but I much prefer the quiet life. But it's about balance. Too much couch time and chilling and you crave a bit of social stuff and too much social stuff and you crave being at home. "I value loyalty. Loyalty is one of the most import

Malcolm Marshall Records, Biography, Achievements

Image
Malcolm Marshall  Malcolm Denzil Marshall was a West Indian ineternational cricketer. Marshall is regarded as one of the finest and fastest pacemen ever to have played Test cricket. Malcolm Marshall, conclusively, was one of those - one of those special people. Not so much because he was so extraordinarily good at cricket, but because of the way in which he applied the various gifts, cricket amongst them, which were given to him. Malcolm was no waster - not of time, not of talent - nor a shirker of any situation or challenge which confronted him. He maintained excellence without arrogance, earned respect without ever assuming it, and displayed confidence and self-assurance within his immense humility. For as long as perhaps the last two months, maybe more maybe less, he knew, deep down I think, that the game was up. But he was damned if he would let us know. He was such a stubborn fellow. It was as if he was more concerned about the suffering of those around him, those f

Brian Lara Profile, Records, Personal Life

Brian Lara  Brian Charles Lara is a former international cricketer, widely acknowledged as one of the great batsmen of all time. Lara, who holds the records for the highest individual innings in Tests and first-class cricket, believes he may have overexerted himself while exercising, prompting the hospital visit. The 50-year-old, in India for media duties related to the World Cup, revealed subsequent tests showed no serious problems and he is confident of being discharged on Wednesday. Cricket West Indies posted on Twitter an audio update from Lara, who said: “I think I just maybe extended myself a little bit too much in the gym this morning. I was feeling a bit of pain in my chest so I just felt it was best to see a doctor and I was taken to the hospital. The pain continued so obviously a lot of tests have been done. “Just letting everyone know that I’m fine, I’m recovering and I’ll be back in my hotel room tomorrow. A couple of the tests that came back already, the d

Angelo Mathews Profile, News, Records and Stats

Image
Angelo Mathews Angelo Davis Mathews, is a Sri Lankan cricketer and a former captain in all formats. If one thought the dead-rubber between Sri Lanka and West Indies would be a dull encounter, it’s a big no. You are mistaken. It was a high-scoring thriller and the match could have gone either way until the end. The turning point came in the 48th over of West Indies chase. Needing 30 off three overs, Angelo Mathews turned his arm for the first time in 18 months to complete the final overs as Sri Lanka’s main bowlers, excepting Lasith Malinga, had completed their quota. He immediately struck the decisive blow, dismissing the dangerous Nicholas Pooran off the first ball and completed the over giving away just three runs. It was a day that belonged to the young and the old. Young Pooran took the onus upon himself to lead the West Indies fight back after another veteran Lasith Malinga once again proved how dangerous he could be on his day. The pacer broke the West Indies

Muttiah Muralitharan Profile, News, Ranking and Achievements

Image
Muttiah Muralitharan  Deshabandu Muttiah Muralitharan is a Sri Lankan former cricketer. He retired from Test cricket in 2010. Muttiah Muralitharan attended St. Anthony’s College in Kandy and began bowling off-spin on the advice of his coach. He made his Test debut against Australia in 1992 at age 20, taking two wickets with successive balls. When England toured Sri Lanka the following year, many batsmen found Muralitharan’s spin difficult to read and expressed concern about the legitimacy of his bowling action. To the naked eye, Muralitharan appeared not to bowl the ball but rather to flick it with a bent arm and flexible wrist. According to the rules of cricket, if his arm was bent and then straightened at the point of delivery, the ball would be deemed a throw (hence illegal), but Muralitharan’s arm remained bent throughout the action. Exhaustive studies by the International Cricket Council (ICC) of both his action and the physiology of his right arm showed that the bend was

Shane Watson Profile, News, Ranking and Personal Life

Shane Watson  Shane Robert Watson is an Australian cricket player who has played for Australia’s national cricket team. In a recent Instagram post, Harbhajan Singh revealed that his CSK teammate Watson batted through a bleeding knee during his 59-ball 80 which went in vain on the night of IPL final against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. “Can you guys see the blood on his knee…he got 6 stitches after the game..got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone. That’s our @srwatson33 Almost pulled it off for us last night,” Harbhajan’s Instagram story read.  It was probably the bleeding knee which hampered his running which saw him get run out. Mumbai ultimately won the thriller by a run after Malinga held his nerves and defended just eight runs in the last over. Soon after the match, photos of Watson's bloodied pants went viral online. Fans and spectators of the game were left awestruck by his dedication for CSK and towards the sport and held the Aussie
